Toxic Garbage Island documentary series on vbs.tv
May 5, 2008
Hello Friends,

Vice Broadcasting System has put up an eye-opening series on the supposed large island of garbage floating in the Pacific. The series definitely has a "Vice" quality to it, but I think they did a good job of documenting the trashing of our oceans.  Here's a link the first installment, I recommend watching the whole series.  Research it, talk about it, see what's going on.

Noel and I love Mercy Corps Northwest because they have a variety of progams that help small business owners like us. They also have outstanding international aid programs. We've been lucky enough to be mentored through their micro mentor program, which helped us tremendously. Oh Buggy is currently featured on their website, check it out!

Our California trip
January 7, 2008

Happy New Year!

We're back in Portland after a wonderful whirlwind trip to California. We went down to enjoy the weather, scout some boutiques, and pretend that our vacation was endless. Sounds great, right? It was. Getting tasty Chinese food delivered to us on Christmas eve in San Francisco was epic! LA was a dream! We visted dozens of shops that inspired us to continue designing and developing our line.

Have a great 2008,

OH BUGGY HAS FINALLY LAUNCHED !
December 24, 2007

GREETINGS DEAR FRIENDS,

It is here. For the past year, Brooks and I have been drinking coffee and doodling in our sketchbooks trying to create designs that made us feel happy. My work in graphic design and photography was a perfect match for Brooks' passion for fashion and minimal drawing style. Upon deciding to start our own silk screening apparel company we wanted to start things right by researching our resources carefully and making choices that were directly inspired by our own lives.

First of all, we are inspired by cultural friendliness. Growing up with a dual-cultural background has influenced our decision to support diversity, multi-ethnicity, and the marginalized. The latter category includes independent artists, musicians, small business owners, free thinkers, etc.

Second, we realize the impact that one shirt can make on our environment, and how the fashion industry, in its use of raw materials, often overlooks the sheer volume of energy and materials consumed. We have chosen Alternative Earth for our shirts and they are made out of 100% organic cotton. Using organic cotton uses no pesticides or chemical fertilizers, this maximizes soil fertility and protects the environment.

Third, not only do we have aresponsibility to help sustain the environment, we have one to the people that we co-exist with. This is the reason why we chose sweatshop free garments.

Lastly, we wanted to create something that would join our creative energies into something we could share with those we love. Our work comes from our love for the things we find the most endearing, whether it be a cup of tea on the front porch or watching cartoons in our pajamas, we hope to influence others by the example we set.

The creation of Oh Buggy is an extension of how we see the world and now we are finally ready to go public with a few of our designs. Please take a look at our shop and tell us what you think. We'd be happy to hear from all of you.

all hearts,

Noel & Brooks
